OAKLAND — An East Bay rapper was sentenced to four years in state prison for robbing a man after learning the victim’s female companion wasn’t interested in him, court records show.
Kwame Walker, 25, pleaded no contest to second degree robbery and was sentenced on Jan. 6, court records show. He was transferred to state prison a month later, and was given 115 days worth of credit for time spent in jail, court records show.
Walker is a local rapper who uses the stage name Kwame Kayda and is also the CEO of an entertainment company known as Cold Hearted Entertainment, according to authorities.
Walker was arrested and charged in 2024, in connection with a robbery on New Year’s Day. Police said at the time he accompanied a man and woman to their home after meeting at a Hayward nightclub, but became enraged after the woman rejected his sexual advances. He allegedly held the man hostage for two hours outside the home, and robbed him of valuables worth $1,400, including a bracelet.
When the victim opened the door to his home and yelled for help, Waker ran off, police said.
