Caleb Goodavish, 12, Verona Area Swim Team (WI): Goodavish had an incredible showing two weeks ago at the 46th Annual A+ Meet in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, setting six new best times and climbing the all-time rankings in his age group in four of them. The 12-year-old Verona Area Swim Team product most notably clocked 4:19.31 in the 400 IM to rank 1st this season in the boys’ 11-12 age group and 39th all-time. He also went 49.43 in the 100 free to rank 4th this season and 30th all-time, while he moved to 3rd this season and 54th all-time in the 200 free (1:48.39) and 6th this season and 69th all-time in the 100 fly (54.74). Goodavish also set PBs in the 50 free (23.32) and 100 IM (57.31), ranking him 10th and 6th, respectively, in the 11-12 age group this season.
Charlotte Pruce, 12, Ensworth Aquatics (SE): Pruce set four best times at the Excel Mardi Gras meet in mid-January, highlighted by what she did in the sprint breaststroke events. The Ensworth Aquatics member clocked 1:05.67 in the 100 breast, lowering her previous best of 1:07.08, set in November, to rank her 1st this season in the girls’ 11-12 age group. She also cracked the top 100 all-time, moving to 76th all-time in the 11-12 age group. Pruce also set a PB of 30.87 in the 50 breast, improving on her previous mark of 31.49 to rank 3rd this season in the age group. She added two more best times in the 100 back (1:01.28) and 200 back (2:15.65).
Jacob Lee, 12, Rose Bowl Aquatics (CA): Lee was on fire at the BCA Winter Heats meet two weeks ago in Torrance, California, setting five new personal bests including a trio of standout performances in the breaststroke events. The 12-year-old Rose Bowl Aquatics swimmer most notably put up a time of 28.06 in the 50 breast, knocking 24 one-hundredths off his previous best to maintain his #1 ranking in the boys’ 11-12 age group this season and crack the top 10 all-time (10th). He also moved to #1 in the age group this season in the 200 breast (2:15.73), ranking 47th all-time, and slots into 2nd this season in the 100 breast (1:01.44), ranking 23rd all-time. Lee also set new best times in the 100 free (54.63) and 200 free (1:59.98).
Abi Cowart, 13, Alamo Heights Aquatic Club (ST): Cowart established seven new best times at the 44th Annual Greater Southwest Classic in Garland, Texas, doing so in every event she raced. The highlight swim of her meet came in the 200 back, where Cowart dropped more than three seconds in the prelims, down from 2:04.72 to 2:01.45, and then re-lowered her PB to 2:01.21 in the final, ranking her 2nd this season among 13-year-old girls. The Alamo Heights Aquatic Club product also moved to 11th among 13-year-old girls this season in the 200 IM (2:07.19), 14th in the 400 IM (4:31.60), 17th in the 100 back (57.95), 22nd in the 200 free (1:53.77), 23rd in the 100 free (52.71) and 38th in the 50 free (24.46) with her performances at the meet.
Joaquin Seay, 13, Alamo Heights Aquatic Club (ST): Also competing at the Greater Southwest Classic, Cowart’s teammate Seay set six new lifetime bests, cracking the top five among 13-year-old boys this season in two of them. Seay dropped nearly nine-tenths in the 100 free to clock 48.11, ranking him 4th this season among 13-year-old boys. In the 200 free, he knocked more than two seconds off his PB in 1:45.71, good for 5th this season among 13-year-olds. Seay also set new bests in the 50 free (22.62), 500 free (4:51.31), 100 fly (54.05) and 200 fly (2:02.20), ranking him 30th, 22nd, 20th and 31st among 13-year-old boys this season, respectively.
