Route 66, the “Mother Road” that starts in Chicago and passes through San Bernardino County to end at the Santa Monica Pier, turns 100 this year.
Klatch Coffee has come up with a special blend for the occasion. It’s called Centennial, and it’s a medium roast single-origin Ethiopian espresso with flavors of cherry, raspberry and chocolate. An 11-ounce bag costs $22.95 and comes stamped with a roast date.
Klatch’s website calls it “a heartfelt tribute to the open road of Route 66, roadside diners and the timeless spirit of American travel.”
On Facebook, Klatch advises the “perfect extraction” for home espresso machines is 21grams in, 38 grams out, 201 degrees for 23 seconds.

Klatch is based in Rancho Cucamonga with a cafe on Foothill Boulevard, which was Route 66, and its headquarters are not far away.
U.S. Highway 66 was established on Nov. 11, 1926, so the actual anniversary is nine months away. But celebrations have already begun.
The 1915 Cucamonga Service Station, about a mile from Klatch’s cafe, was the site of an early centennial event. A caravan of historic cars traveling from Santa Monica to Chicago stopped there on Jan. 3.
The city of Rancho Cucamonga has created a page on its website devoted to the centennial that is yet to be populated.
More events are in the works, including car shows and museum exhibits, according to the Route 66 Centennial website, route66centennial.org, which has a calendar for each of the eight states the road runs through.
And the Inland Empire 66ers are expected to have several Mother Road promotions during their 2026 season, according to representatives. Opening day is an away game against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on April 2. The first home game at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino is on April 7.
The team is a Single-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
Klatch continues its expansion in Sprouts Farmers Markets, opening in-store cafes in Huntington Beach and West Covina.
