Josh Giddey Misses Out On Being Named To NBA’s 2026 All-Star Reserves ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

Ahead of a Los Angeles Lakers road tilt against the New York Knicks on NBC/Peacock Sunday, Maria Taylor, Vince Carter, Carmelo Anthony, and Tracy McGrady announced the NBA’s 14 All-Star reserve picks exactly two weeks ahead of the 2026 All-Star Game. The All-Star Game is slated to tip off at the LA Clippers’ home arena, Intuit Dome, on Feb. 15. Unfortunately, 23-year-old Chicago Bulls point guard Josh Giddey was omitted from the bunch.

League coaches vote for All-Star reserves wholly within their own conference, and are not permitted to vote for their own players.

This doesn’t necessarily mean the 6-foot-7 pro, in the midst of a career season, won’t ultimately be named to the 2026 class.

Aggrieved two-time MVP Milwaukee Bucks power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had been voted in as a starter, will sit out as he recovers from a lingering calf strain. It’s quite possible that another player will go down between now and the All-Star Weekend festivities.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver will pick any All-Star injury replacements. He usually leans on the players who received the next-most votes from fans, media and journalists but were still shut out. Giddey finished outside the top 20 in fan votes, though, so… it feels unlikely he’ll make the grade.

The Aussie is himself currently grappling with a health issue, as he’s missed most of the calendar year with a recurring hamstring strain. In 34 available games for Chicago, he’s been averaging 18.6 points on .462/.366/.775 shooting splits, 8.8 assists and 8.6 rebounds.

Giddey was the only Bulls player to have a case this season for the 24-25 Bulls, as Coby White missed too many games early to really make the same impression. Still, thanks to Giddey’s recent injury challenges, White has only played in seven fewer contests at this point — and that number will decrease to six on Sunday, with Giddey set to miss a third straight game against the Miami Heat.

In 27 healthy bouts, White has been averaging 18.6 points while slashing .444/.361/.799, 4.8 dimes and 3.5 boards per.

2026 NBA All-Star Reserves Revealed

Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards and Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant were the three top players who probably had a case to be named starters this year. Their inclusion here is hardly a surprise.

A whopping six new players were named to their first-ever All-Star squads: Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren, Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray, Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson, Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren, Heat guard Norman Powell, and Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija.

The biggest surprise name might be Indiana Pacers power forward Pascal Siakam — not because he isn’t a great player, but because he’s on one of the worst teams in the league, and generally those guys aren’t rewarded anymore.

Here’s the full 24-man All-Star roster this year — prior to injury alternates being determined.
