January 31, 2026 Ames, IA Results PDFThe Iowa women defeated in-state rival Iowa State 194-105 in a dual meet on Saturday, January 31st.
Leading the way for Iowa was freshman Payton Flowers. Flowers won the 50 free in a 22.89 as well as a swam to a 50.29 in the 100 free. She has been as fast as 22.38 and 49.30 this season, with both times coming at midseason.
In addition to her individual wins, Flowers also swam on two winning relays. The team’s 200 medley relay of Elizabeth Beam, Olivia Swalley, Rachel Dildine, and Flowers swam to a 1:41.13. Flowers and Dildine combined with Jenna Kerr and Audrey Olen for the team’s win in the 400 free relay as they touched in a 3:22.83.
Beam earned two individual wins of her own, sweeping the backstroke events. Beam touched in a 55.82 in the 100 and a 1:59.82 in the 200. Her 200 back was her fastest time in a dual meet this season.
Kerr also swam to two more wins on the day. She first won the 200 free in a 1:49.83 before going on to win the 500 free in a 4:54.57.
Swalley, the school record holder in the 400 IM, swam to two wins as well. She won the 200 fly in a 2:01.28, just off her best at Iowa of a 2:01.21. She also swam to a 2:02.09 in the 200 IM.
The Iowa State women were led by the team’s breaststrokers. Grace Swoboda won the 100 breast in a 1:00.45, marking a school record by 0.01 seconds. The previous record of a 1:00.46 was set by Imelda Wistey during the 2013-2014 season.
Also earning a win was Anja Peck as she won the 200 breaststroke in a 2:13.05. That was not far off her 2:12.23 personal best she swam at the Big 12 East Championships just two weeks ago.
