19-year-old Lena Ludwig from Heidelberg, Germany, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Texas for 2027-28. She wrote on social media:
“Well…guess I have to get used to country music now I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The University of Texas at Austin! I’m incredibly grateful to my family, friends, @marquez_tati , @marie__brockhaus and @utaclbr for their endless support. A special thank you to Coach Carol, Coach Brandt, and the entire Texas coaching staff for putting their trust in me and giving me this incredible opportunity! I’m so happy and grateful, and I can’t wait to officially be a Longhorn! Excited for what’s ahead! HOOK‘EM! ”
Ludwig swims with SV Nikar Heidelberg and represents Germany on the international stage. She swam the 50/100/200 breast at 2026 European Championships and made semi-finals in the 200 (14th place). At European Junior Championships in 2025, she placed 8th in the finals of the 50 breast (31.35 PB in semis), 2nd in the 100 breast (1:07.60, PB), and 2nd in the 200 breast (2:26.56, PB). She won the 200 breast title at 2024 European Junior Championships with 2:28.70. All her best times came from 2025 Euro Juniors.

50 breast – 31.35 (27.34 100 breast – 1:07.60 (59.09) 200 breast – 2:26.56 (2:08.43)Ludwig will suit up for the Longhorns with fellow class of 2031 commits Sadie Buckley, Bianca Nwaizu, Daisy Collins, Callie Fox, Milan Glintmeyer, and Vivien Jackl. Her best converted times would have scored in the ‘A’ finals of the 100/200 breast at 2026 SEC Championships. She is just off what it took to make All-American at the 2026 NCAA Division I Championships, where a 58.98/2:08.35 scored in the top 16.
