ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two men have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in a deadly triple shooting on Hazelwood Terrace in 2024.

Nasezire Horton, 22, was sentenced to 25 years to life and Quentin Riviere, 22, was sentenced to 55 years to life in prison. Prosecutors say on Aug. 12, 2024, the two shot and killed 19-year-old Rukia Issack, and shot and wounded a 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy.
Horton and Riviere were both previously found guilty of murder, attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of a controlled substance by a Monroe County Jury.

The two were arrested three days after the 2024 shooting. Riviere was on parole for burglary at the time of the shooting, and Horton was recently released to parole from a previous assault conviction at the time.
As a result, this sparked a debate over parole reform in New York State.
“We are stuck with a parole system that is not properly supervising people, and I have to be honest with you, the state of New York owes that family an apology,” former Gates Police Chief and state Senate candidate Jim VanBrederode told News10NBC in 2024.
