Texas earned a huge victory, literally, for its 2026 offensive line with the signing of veteran Western Kentucky transfer Laurance Seymore.
The Longhorns’ big-time signing from an unlikely program and league in Conference USA was reported by On3’s Pete Nakos on Tuesday afternoon, but with a caveat.
According to Nakos, Seymore “has an extension of eligibility waiver currently in progress,” so it’s not set in stone quite yet that Texas will get its hands on Seymore.

— Pete Nakos (@PeteNakos) January 27, 2026While Seymore will be challenged as he takes a massive step up in competition from Conference USA to the SEC — if he does get that extra eligibility — he’ll come to Austin with a ton of playing experience. Seymore played 840 snaps this past season with the Hilltoppers. The 6-foot-2, 320-pounder is a Miami product, so he also played against elite competition in high school before beginning his chaotic college career.
Seymore has a proven track record over the past 2 seasons, allowing just 1 sack. He’s also already well-traveled, too, with previous collegiate stops at Akron and Miami before heading to Western Kentucky.
That collegiate journey started close to home, when the Miami Central High product signed with the hometown Hurricanes as a member of the 2021 recruiting class.
He was a 4-star prospect way back when who, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, ranked 183rd overall and was the 11th-ranked interior offensive lineman.
Now, Seymore is in another battle as he attempts to win more eligibility before taking his talents to the SEC.
