The ongoing controversy surrounding linebacker Luke Ferrelli continued to swirl Monday, as Clemson made an update to Ferelli’s roster bio page on their website – directing visitors to click a hyperlink for Ferrelli’s timeline at Clemson.
Upon clicking the link, a 27-minute, 37-second video appears of Clemson coach Dabo Swinney detailing the Tigers’ side of the former Cal transfer’s in-then-out saga with Clemson and Ole Miss.
In the video from Friday’s explosive press conference, Swinney openly accuses Ole Miss coach Pete Golding and Rebels GM Austin Thomas of tampering with Ferrelli just days after Ferrelli signed on Jan. 7 and enrolled at Clemson – time during which Ferrelli attended classes at the university and took part in position meetings.
At that point in mid-January, Ferrelli was a bona fide Clemson student – and the reigning ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year was set to play the 2026 season with the Tigers. But Ole Miss, which also recruited Ferrelli before he chose Clemson, wasn’t done trying to lure the linebacker – as Swinney claimed to reporters that Golding offered Ferrelli a $1 million contract while he was in class at Clemson.
“Like having an affair on your honeymoon,” Dabo Swinney said of the messy situation during the Jan. 23 press conference.
By that point, Ferrelli was already back into the transfer portal and presumably en route to Ole Miss to accept the offer that Golding made him.
Ferrelli spent 2 seasons at Cal. He did not play in 2024, taking a redshirt. He was named ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year as a redshirt freshman in 2025, recording 87 tackles with 5 TFLs and 1 sack. Ferrelli added 1 interception, 1 pass breakup and 1 QB hurry.
Ferrelli does not currently appear on Ole Miss’ 2026 football roster.
