Turnpike Troubadours land their first career entry on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to the group’s featured appearance on Zach Bryan’s “Plainsman.”
The track, from Bryan’s new eight-song set, Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs (released Oct. 16 via Belting Bronco/Warner Records), launches at No. 45 on the chart dated Oct. 31 almost entirely from streaming. Until now, Turnpike Troubadours’ chart success had come largely on the album side. The band has charted five titles on the Billboard 200, Top Country Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts, with four reaching the top 10 of the lattermost list, including 2017’s No. 1, A Long Way From Your Heart.
The group’s first appearance on a Billboard songs chart came last year, when “Heaven Passing Through,” from its latest LP, The Price of Admission, debuted on Country Airplay. The single peaked at No. 46 this March over a 33-week run on the chart.
As for Bryan, Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 65,000 equivalent album units earned. It also opens at No. 1 on Top Country Albums, Top Rock Albums and Americana/Folk Albums, giving him his fifth No. 1 on all three charts.
