Nova Southeastern vs Barry vs Florida Southern
January 23, 2026 Fort Lauderdale, FL SCY (25 Yards) Full Meet ResultsOn Friday, three-time women’s NCAA DII Champion Nova Southeastern University hosted Miami, Florida Southern, and Barry University for their senior day, and they closed the meet out with a bang and a new NCAA DII Record.
The women’s 400 freestyle relay for the Nova Southeastern Sharks swam 3:17.92 to win the event by three tenths over DI Miami, taking down the former record of 3:18.04 that was set by Queens NC in 2018 and 2019 before their transition.
Queens originally set the record back in 2018 at the NCAA DII Championships before tying the same mark in 2019 with two of the original swimmers returning.
One of the most striking differences in the splits is that none of the swimmers on the Nova S’Eastern swimmers split under 48 seconds. On both Queens relays, at least one swimmer was sub-49. The Sharks were far more consistent with only seven tenths separating their fastest and slowest splits where Queens had more than a second on both relays
Sophomore Kristina Orban led the team off in 49.64, about a second off her lifetime best of 48.63 from last year’s NCAA Championships. Grad Student Zsofia Kurdi was 2nd in 49.41. Sophomore Maxine Egner swam the 3rd leg in 49.74, and senior Maya Esparza anchored in 49.13 to bring the team in just 12 hundredths under the former record time.
