Former Red Bull and Aston Martin engineer Dan Fallows – one of F1’s most recognizable aerodynamic minds – has been appointed technical director of Racing Bulls.
The bold power play instantly sharpens the Faenza-based outfit’s technical credentials and signals clear intent as the team looks to punch harder in the midfield.
Fallows will report directly to chief technical officer Tim Goss and, according to the team, will “take responsibility for the overall technical direction of the team, working across design, aerodynamics and performance”.
For Fallows, it marks a return to familiar ground within Red Bull’s broader ecosystem — but under very different circumstances, and with plenty to prove.
A Fresh Start After a Bruising Chapter
Fallows arrives in Faenza following a dramatic few years that have seen his reputation tested as much as his technical nous.
After spending 15 years at Red Bull – from Jaguar-era aerodynamicist to chief engineer – he was head-hunted by Aston Martin for the 2022 season in a move that sparked a contractual dispute with his former employer.
The promise at Silverstone, however, never quite translated into sustained on-track success. Less than three years into the role, Fallows was dismissed as Aston Martin’s technical director in late 2024, before being cast aside at Aston Martin Performance Technologies altogether.
By mid-2025, he had struck out alone, founding Hiperformant, a company he described as “extensive F1 expertise applied to high performance engineering and business development projects”.
Now, Racing Bulls is offering him a route straight back into the heart of Formula 1 competition — and Fallows sounds eager to seize it.
“I’m very pleased to be joining VCARB at an exciting time for the team,” he said.
“There is a clear vision and strong technical ambition, and I’m looking forward to working closely with Tim and the wider engineering group to help drive performance and continue building the team for the future.”

Team principal Alan Permane was equally bullish, pointing to Fallows’ depth of experience as a major coup for the squad.
“Dan has a wealth of experience, and his technical understanding and leadership will be a real asset to the team as we continue to develop and push forward competitively,” Permane said.
“We’re delighted to welcome him to VCARB.”
For Racing Bulls, the hire adds serious aerodynamic pedigree and leadership at a time when marginal gains can mean everything.
For Fallows, it’s a chance at redemption — back in F1, back within the Red Bull family orbit, and back where his ideas will once again be judged in lap time.
