Many questions about Cascadia/Catalyst need to be answered
Questions about Cascadia/Catalyst: Need the answers to make educated selection with upcoming election.
• If Entertainment District goes bankrupt, will Greeley have to sell fire stations and a police station? Entertainment districts have a high failure rate.
• Can a minor league sports team generate sufficient revenue to fund this project and what other revenue sources have been identified? What happens if Lind decides to sell or move the Eagles? The Avalanche could decide to break the affiliation with the Eagles. The Avs are owned by Kroenke, same family that owns the St. Louis Rams — I mean the L.A. Rams.
• Is the promise of jobs accurate? Will the construction jobs be filled by Greeley residents? Many of the construction crews currently working round here do not appear to be from Greeley. For the part-time jobs at minimum wage that account for many of the jobs created, will transportation be provided for Greeley residents who live in center and east areas of Greeley? Will Greeley residents have priority for hire? Quite a drive to south Windsor.
• Is it sensible to think people will drive from Cascadia into Greeley to eat and shop as the proponents of this project claim? It seems to be more logical that guests stay in the Centerra area.
• What are the facts with infrastructure and what is the plan for managing increased traffic? There have been reports that there are conflicts between Windsor and Greeley regarding annexation and water/sewer services. City manager for Greeley quits and we don’t have a placement.
The residents of Greeley deserve answers to these questions and concerns. I am not sure why all of this has not been clarified by now.
Gary Johnson, Greeley
The political model practiced in D.C. will never be repaired
As the strategy of Homeland Security unfolds, there is much evidence to support the claim that political party discrimination is involved in that strategy. From the mouth of the president who has publicly stated that he hates Democrats, to the ignorance of Homeland Security and to a man caught on camera in a bribe scam. I surrender to the idealism that lies in my imagination.
What I believe anymore is not important. The political model practiced in Washington, D.C., will never be repaired. It is a miracle that it lasted into the 21st century.
It used to be that sweetness of sugar was enough of a dopamine rush to keep us obese and happy. Americans are now prisoners of the addiction to politicians who seek power and promise us the same.
Famers, construction works, factory workers, homemakers, teachers, physicians, military personnel, financial dealers, small businessmen, lawyers and many others are at the mercy of the power of the rich. It started with rich landowners over 250 years ago.
Liberty, Freedom, Justice were perverted to the individualist concept of capitalism. The United States has been played by the very opportunity it boasted was better than monarchy. Colonists sacrificed only to destroy the decency they pretended to honor. All who have survived are guilty; the innocent were killed off to cover up this crime called America. Our nation was never blessed by God. He never even noticed us. He distanced Himself from the evil we call democracy.
My time is limited as is yours. Share a cup of coffee with someone. Do Not Bring Up Politics. Our solar neighbor burns bright for the future of our planet. It will continue to do so for billions of years. That belief puts dopamine into my conscience. I dropped out after Vietnam.
