Arizona State recruited the 2026 transfer portal well above its pay grade, with top additions demonstrating how much belief they have in coach Kenny Dillingham leading the program.
ASU has the No. 13 portal class in the country (third in Big 12) according to 247Sports, as of Saturday night. When taking out teams with new coaches bringing much of their former teams with them, that ranking jumps up to No. 7 (second).
The company it keeps at the top is filled with predominantly College Football Playoff contenders: Texas, Ohio State, Indiana, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Texas Tech are the six programs ahead.
The Sun Devils are doing this without upper-echelon funding that Texas Tech is getting with billionaire oil booster Cody Campbell or Indiana is getting with billionaire business mogul Mark Cuban, for example.

Dillingham on the day his new contract was announced pleaded for ASU’s version of that to come forward. It hasn’t happened yet, by all indications.
What has happened, however, is continued forward momentum entering Dillingham’s fourth year with a winning record now showing for his tenure (22-17), along with some notable assistants playing a big part in luring big fish.
Friday was the final day of the open transfer portal, and ASU’s roster is mostly set with just a handful of scholarship spots still open.
Arizona State’s transfer portal haul by the numbers
The Sun Devils’ 2026 portal additions received the highest average grade of Dillingham’s four portal cycles so far at 87.15, according to 247Sports.
Wide receivers Omarion Miller (.95) and Reed Harris (.94) have the best grades of any addition, clocking in as the Nos. 3 and 4 transfer options at their position and 13 and 16 overall, respectively. Raiden Vines-Bright (.89) being the third-best receiver addition (41st at position) makes it all the more impressive.
ASU had the luxury of selling the trio on the Hines Ward development plan that helped Jordyn Tyson become a likely top-10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Linebacker Owen Long was the third addition with a grade in the 90s at .91 after posting 151 tackles at Colorado State, the most in FBS.
In the previous three cycles combined, ASU reeled in four players with grades at 90 or better, with Tyson at .91 marking the previous highest in the Dillingham era. Raleek Brown, Cole Martin and Aaron Frost all arrived with .90 grades.
Quarterback Cutter Boley enters with the same .89 grade that his predecessor, Sam Leavitt, had when he transferred from Michigan State before the 2024 season. Boley was 19th among portal quarterbacks while Leavitt was 28th before getting to ASU.
Secondary was the other position that needed major work after losing all five starters, and ASU replenished the room with three .86 additions (Lyrik Rawls, Ashton Stamps and Antoine Belgrave-Shorter) and two more at .85 (Jessiah McGrew and Caleb Chester).
Cornerbacks coach and recruiting guru Bryan Carrington was promoted to assistant head coach and defensive pass game coordinator the day before the portal opened, SunDevilSource’s Chris Karpman reported.
Carrington helped start the Texas 2 Tempe movement at ASU, and four of the defensive back additions fall into the category: Rawls, Chester, Arkansas transfer Nigel Pringle and Michigan State transfer Chance Rucker (latter two not yet graded) each have Texas ties.
Most players are already on campus as offseason workouts began earlier this week ahead of spring ball starting in March.
