ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our Yellow Alert will remain up through the evening commute, then end this evening as snow begins to wind down. Most accumulating snow has all but come to an end, but one last batch of lake enhanced and lake effect snow is pushing through this evening as our area of low pressure pulls away. Towns north of Rochester, and especially along that Route 104 corridor may see another coating to an inch or two of snow as this passes through. Elsewhere, nothing more than another coating. Temperatures in the teens combine with gusty winds are keeping wind chill values below zero tonight.

Lingering lake effect snow hugging the lakeshore in Wayne County may drop another fluffy inch or two overnight and into first thing Friday morning, then lift north with a wind shift. This wind shift will also bump our temperatures back into the 20s through the afternoon. We’ll see our next clipper moving in late Friday, with another batch of snow showers, but less than 1″ of accumulation is expected.

We’ll head back into the freezer once again for the 2nd half of the weekend and much of next week. High temperatures will hold well below average, and only in the teens by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, with single digit lows. A gusty wind will drop wind chill values below below zero, before some moderation by the end of next week. We’ll see frequent chances of minor snow as a series of clippers pass through, along with some brief bouts of lake effect.
