A man in Missouri has been arrested after police alleged he called his son to confess to stabbing his wife to death for “cheating,” and told him he “sat with her” as she bled out before fleeing their home.
Malang Akbari has been charged with first-degree murder for killing his wife, Manhaz Akbari, according to a probable cause affidavit viewed by Us Weekly.
After he called his son to admit to the crime, the son went to his parents’ residence. Upon his arrival, the son found his mother unresponsive on the kitchen floor as she was bleeding out. Police said that Malang, 46, left the home in “the family vehicle” with their 18-month-old and 12-year-old daughter after he killed his wife.
Later that day, police officers pulled over Malang’s car and took him into custody without incident. It was reported that he dropped off the 18-month-old child with a relative before he was arrested, while police confirmed that the 12-year-old has also been found safe.
Man Allegedly Gunned Down Wife in Front of Son Due to Her 'Cheating'
“I sacrificed everything for her,” Malang told police after he murdered his wife, according to the probable cause affidavit. He also claimed that there was “no other option” for him.
He went on to tell police that “he believed there was infidelity within the marriage,” adding that he also suspected his wife of “tampering with his food.” However, it’s not currently clear what exactly he believes she did to his food.
“He confronted [Manhaz Akbari] in their kitchen about cheating,” the affidavit stated. “[Manhaz Akbari] told him that if he would do anything to her then she would report him to law enforcement. [Malang Akbari] said he obtained a kitchen knife from a box in the kitchen and continued his argument.”
Malang told police that Manhaz “began screaming and looking around the kitchen.” He then alleged that she appeared to be “looking for a knife as well,” so he stabbed her before she could do the same to him.
“He caught her and laid her to the floor as she was bleeding out,” the affidavit continued, according to Malang’s account of the incident. “He obtained a pillow, placed it underneath [Manhaz Akbari’s] head, and sat with her in the kitchen while she bled out.”
Malang also allegedly admitted to police that he called his son to tell him that he had killed his wife. He added that he also contacted other family members and advised them to check on Manhaz, per the affidavit.
