Value City Furniture stores are closing across Illinois and going out of business sales are underway, but only for a limited time.
According to the furniture store, Value City’s parent company, American Signature Inc., “is winding down operations and closing all remaining” locations.
“Closing sales will continue while inventory lasts,” Value City’s website states, though no specific closing date has been provided.
In a Jan. 9 press release, the company said the sales would take place across 79 stores in 13 states with “up to 50% off original prices on a wide selection of home furnishings, including living room, dining room, and bedroom collections, as well as decor, lighting, mattresses, and rugs.”
“A sale of this magnitude will bring never-before-seen values to a broad selection of top-quality furniture already offered at truly affordable prices,” SB360 President Aaron Miller said in a statement. “We encourage everyone to shop early during this limited-time event while selection is at its best. The compelling liquidation discounts on stylish furniture for every room of the home will make this a short sale in these stores.”
The 75-year-old parent company of the iconic furniture and home furnishings store filed for bankruptcy in October 2025 and began a sale process in November. As part of that process, stores are set to close for good across the U.S., including several in Illinois and one at a busy mall in the north Chicago suburbs.
Rudy Morando, co-chief restructuring officer for ASI, cited “ongoing macroeconomic headwinds” impacting the home furnishing industry as part of the reason for the closures.
“The company has carefully evaluated its options to assess the best path forward in the current operating environment,” Morando said in the release. “Through that review, we determined that entering a court-supervised process will provide the best opportunity to maximize value. We deeply appreciate our team members, customers, and partners and are determined to serve them throughout this process.”
Select Value City Furniture and American Signature Furniture stores will remain open through the sales process, offering major discounts on living room, dining room and bedroom collections along with decor, lighting, mattresses and rugs.
“As part of the outcome of our sale process, all VCF and ASF retail stores will be permanently closing” Value City’s website reads. “Customers can visit our remaining locations and take advantage of store closing sales while inventory lasts.”
Gift cards will not be accepted during the sales and all sales are final.
