A mid-century modern home in Laguna Beach is on the market for the first time, with an asking price of $13.5 million.

This 4,376-square-foot house sits on a three-quarter-acre-plus hilltop lot within the guard-gated Three Arch Bay community. Completed in 1958, it features six bedrooms and three bathrooms, along with expansive floor-to-ceiling glass walls that frame views of the ocean, Catalina Island and the coastline stretching from Palos Verdes to Mexico.

“The property has the best promontory ocean views in all of Orange County,” said co-listing agent Bryan Gerlach of Engel & Völkers. “On a clear day, you can see the islands off of Rosarito.”

These unobstructed views provide a backdrop for the living room, kitchen and primary suite in a home that has been cherished by the Clark family for many years, according to public records and news archives.

The late Dr. Aldon Clark and his wife, Patsy, bought the property shortly after Clark launched his pediatrics practice in Laguna Beach in 1962. They raised four children in the home.  Clark died in February 2024 at 92, followed by his widow in July 2025 at 90.

Although the Clark family has lovingly maintained the house, the listing describes it as “a rare opportunity to elevate original mid-century architecture without sacrificing its irreplaceable setting.”

The house began as a single-level structure set on over 7 acres of ocean-view land.

Around 1970, the Clarks, the home’s second owners, subdivided the property into five separate lots, keeping one for themselves and selling the other four. Only one of the original lots remains undeveloped.

The Clarks residence originally stood alone on the ridge until 1984, around the same time the family built a 40- by 20-foot pool and spa on the east side of their home, along with an upstairs wing.

In the late 1980s, they enclosed the pool beneath a retractable roof, while the rest of the house largely remained original.

A mid-century stone fireplace serves as the focal point in the spacious living room. Wall-to-wall carpeting extends into the dining room, next to the tiled kitchen.

The primary bedroom also features a combination of carpet and tile.

Throughout the house, direct access to a concrete wraparound patio blends indoor and outdoor living.

Other highlights include an attached three-car garage with extra driveway parking.

Gerlach shares the listing with Paul Brutoco, also of Engel & Völkers.
