Police have released new information and photos of a missing Chicago Public Schools teacher who disappeared while heading to an acupuncture appointment last weekend.
An image released by police Friday shows Linda Brown on Jan. 3 in the area of 3500 S. Lake Park Ave., the last time she has been seen, police said. She’s wearing a black winter hat, a black coat, black pants and black rubber snow boots.
“The missing person was last seen alone walking eastbound from that location and could be in need of immediate medical attention,” the department wrote in a release.
The photo was taken after family said Brown was captured on surveillance video around 3 a.m. on Jan. 3 getting out of her blue Honda Civic. In the footage, she could be seen walking toward Lake Michigan on a pedestrian bridge, her family said.
That’s why Brown’s family led a search along the lakefront Friday morning.
Brown left her Bronzeville home on Jan. 2, bound for an acupuncture appointment in Wicker Park, but the 53-year-old never arrived and has not been heard from since.
Police and loved ones have been searching for her for roughly one week.
“I am terrified,” Brown’s husband Antwon Brown told NBC Chicago Monday. “I am just shaking. I need my wife home.”
Her husband said Brown had her phone, purse and credit cards when she left for her appointment.
“We are just trying our best to locate her,” said her brother-in-law Lorenzo Quintana. “We are looking everywhere we possibly can.”
Brown’s sister Lisa Quintana said her disappearance is “so not like her.”
The principal for Robert Healy Elementary School, Erin Kamradt, wrote in a letter to parents earlier this week that the school is aware of Brown’s disappearance and asked anyone with information to contact CPD.
“I know that news like this can cause many emotions, questions, and concerns for our school community. Please know that we are partnering with the CPS Crisis Management Unit to support our students and staff members,” Kamradt wrote. “If you feel that your child would benefit from additional social-emotional support, please do not hesitate to let us know. Our own school-based mental health professionals will also be available as needed.”
Anyone with information on her disappearance is being asked to contact Area One SVU detectives at (312) 747-8380 or call 911.
