1. Mater Dei (9-1): The Monarchs are seeded first this week for the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, an event they captured for the first time last season. Mater Dei, ranked No. 1 in the Orange County season preview, lost at reigning CIF-SS Open Division champion Oaks Christian 11-7 on Saturday. Newport Harbor (13-2): Emerson Mulvey scored a match-high three goals as the Sailors beat Corona del Mar 12-7 in the teams’ Battle of the Bay match on Tuesday to build steam for the Santa Barbara tournament. Newport Harbor, seeded second in Santa Barbara, led 9-2 in the third period. The teams could clash again Friday in a Group B finale for a spot in the semifinals. Previous ranking: 3
3. Orange Lutheran (9-2): The Lancers play San Marcos in Santa Barbara on Thursday night in a tune-up for the Santa Barbara tournament. Orange Lutheran won the tournament in 2024. Previous ranking: 2
4. Foothill (11-5): The Knights enter the Santa Barbara tournament coming off a 9-8 win in sudden-death overtime at JSerra and a 9-5 triumph at Sunny Hills in the Crestview League. Senior Gianna Romero netted the game-winning goal against JSerra. Previous ranking: 6
5. San Clemente (7-3): Junior Hazel Thrash scored a power-play goal with 2:31 left in the fourth to lift the Tritons past host Beckman 9-8 in their South Coast League opener on Tuesday. Sabrina Pearson led the San Clemente with three goals and Tera Lindberg added eight saves. The Tritons open the Santa Barbara tournament against No. 6 seed San Marcos on Friday afternoon. 6. Corona del Mar (8-5): Sophomores Camryn Spruill and Keira Bethell and senior Josie Alaluf each scored twice in a loss against Newport Harbor on Tuesday. The Sea Kings are seeded seventh for the Santa Barbara tournament after finishing sixth at the Holiday Cup. Previous ranking: 4
7. JSerra (8-3): Sayre Duran made 11 saves in a sudden-death overtime loss against Foothill. JSerra plays Mira Costa (6-7) in a play-in match Thursday in Santa Barbara for a shot at Corona del Mar. Previous ranking: 5
8. Beckman (3-6): The Patriots face Rancho Cucamonga (12-5) in a play-in match Thursday at the Santa Barbara tournament for a chance to play No. 4 seed Orange Lutheran. Previous ranking: 7
9. Laguna Beach (5-6): Sophomore Maeve Mani and junior Elsie Huston lead the Breakers in goals with 30 and 27, respectively. Laguna Beach faces Alta Loma (6-6) in a play-in match at the Santa Barbara tournament Thursday for a chance to play The Bishop’s. Laguna Beach beat Alta Loma 15-12 at the Holiday Cup. 10. Sunny Hills (12-4): The Lancers own a 17-9 win against Murrieta Valley, the reigning CIF-SS Division 2 champion. Previous ranking: 10
