Wish You Here Here just celebrated its whopping 50th anniversary, having hit the shelves way back in 1975. And now, Pink Floyd's groundbreaking album that was released just two years prior is approaching an incredible milestone on the Billboard 200.
On the chart dated Jan. 10, the album hits its 996th nonconsecutive week on the list, Billboard reported on Wednesday, Jan. 7. The Dark Side of the Moon hit No. 1 for a week in April 1973 — the year of its release — and became the longest-charted album on the Billboard 200 a decade later, on the chart dated Oct. 29, 1983. That's when it surpassed the great Johnny Mathis' record of 490 weeks with Johnny’s Greatest Hits, Billboard also noted.
And let's not forget Pink Floyd's follow-up record, which recently enjoyed a whole lot of love by fans amid the 50-year milestone. Last month, thanks to a boost from the epic anniversary, Wish You Were Herereclaimed the No. 1 spot on the U.K. Albums Chart and broke The Beatles‘ record for the longest gap between chart-topping albums.
