Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that love and understanding amongst all Egyptians grows stronger each day, enabling them to deal effectively with any matter, whether inside or outside the nation.
In a speech Monday evening during his participation in the Christmas celebration at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital, Sisi emphasized that “the primary way for protecting our country is our love for one another.”
President Sisi extended his congratulations to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and to all Copts, saying, “Happy New Year to you all, and may you all be well and at peace.”
Sisi added, “A blessed year, and by the grace of God Almighty, a year better than previous years,” noting that he is monitoring all developments and reactions, and that any concerns are perhaps justified.
“I am addressing the world through you, and while there was some anxiety in previous years, everything passed peacefully.”
‘We do not forget God’
The President said, “We don’t forget God. Some people might forget due to circumstances and imagine that things aren’t under our control, not because of us as humans, but because of the Lord of humankind. The world isn’t left to chance. We all believe in God, and we don’t forget that God exists, and no one can do anything in existence except by the will of God Almighty.”
He added, “This doesn’t mean that we, as Egyptians, shouldn’t take precautions to protect our country. The first line of defense is our love for one another, and the reservoir of love and affection among Egyptians grows stronger every day, which is something we must keep in mind.”
“As a state, and as a person responsible for you, I assure you that I am handling all matters with the utmost honor, integrity, and honesty.”

At the conclusion of his speech, President Sisi said, “Egypt is a great nation, and God willing, the coming days will be better than the past. Happy New Year to you all, and may it be a blessed Christmas for us all.”
He emphasized that His Holiness Pope Tawadros II holds a special place and great respect in his heart, praying to God Almighty to “protect and preserve him and all of you.”
Following his speech, President Sisi posed for photograph with the choir of deacons alongside His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, amidst an atmosphere of joy that permeated everyone present.
