A woman’s body was found in the Santa Ana River Bed in Fountain Valley Thursday morning amid New Year’s Day rainfall, authorities said.
About 60 firefighters from Orange County, Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa fire departments responded to near Warner Avenue and Harbor Boulevard just before noon after receiving a call that someone was in the water, the Orange County Fire Authority said.
The woman was in moving water and had traveled about two miles before OCFA’s Swift Water Rescue firefighters pulled her from the river near Ellis Avenue, but she had died, authorities said.
How the woman had gotten into the Santa Ana River was not yet known.
