The Texas A&M Aggies are primed to lose a pivotal piece of their defense, as safety Bryce Anderson is reportedly hitting the transfer portal when it opens Friday.
On3Sports reported Tuesday that Anderson, who will have one year of eligibility remaining, informed Texas A&M officials of his decision to depart the program. Anderson has spent four years in College Station, compiling 117 tackles, six pass deflections, two forced fumbles, 1½ sacks and an interception.
Anderson only appeared in five games in 2025 and sustained a neck injury against Notre Dame on Sept. 13. There was speculation that he would use his redshirt while recovering from the injury, but Anderson returned to play against Florida as well as in the College Football Playoff against Miami.
Anderson appeared in all 13 games and started five for Texas A&M in 2024. His career highlight came against Florida, when he intercepted DJ Lagway and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown. Anderson started all 11 games he played in 2023 as a sophomore and appeared in 11 games as a freshman in 2022.
The Aggies finished 11-2 in 2025 and lost to the Hurricanes 10-3 in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Texas A&M currently only have five players slated to hit the transfer portal.
