Eurostar passengers have been urged not to travel and Le Shuttle services been suspended following a power failure in the Channel Tunnel.

National Rail has urged passengers to postpone their journeys to a different date, while Le Shuttle has warned of hours-long delays.

According to the LeShuttle website, there are currently delays of around three-and-a-half hours on the UK side and two hours on the French side.

“There is a problem with the overhead power supply in the Channel Tunnel,” said National Rail in a statement.

“Trains are likely to be subject to severe delays and last-minute cancellations.”

It adds: “Check before you travel as your journey could be disrupted. We strongly advise all passengers to postpone their journey to a different date.”

Le Shuttle said there are delays of around three and a half hours on the English side and around two hours on the French side.
