2025 is easily the year, where it all changed for the Indian women’s cricket team. Until now, there was awareness among the fans, about certain players — like Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma, but a large faction of cricket followers in country didn’t know how they played, or what they were capable of doing.
Cut to November 2025. As India lifted the Women’s World Cup, entire team household names, even for the ones, who weren’t were confident of the girls’ chances. Jemimah Rodrigues was suddenly seen as the most dependable batter, Pratika Rawal the most consistent, while Richa Ghosh became the power-hitter that the world had not witnessed.
Among these bunch of talented players too, there were a few, who created a lasting impact in the minds of the fans. With the year coming to a close, Insidesport takes a look at the standout performers in Indian women’s cricket team.
Now world’s best, Deepti Sharma
If one has to maybe rank all the Indian players, from all the matches that the Indian team played, Deepti would be right on the top. Her batting was much more consistent, and wicket-taking prowess only increased. This year in 23 ODIs, she went on to score 596 runs at an average of nearly 50, including six fifties, and a best of 93. As with the ball, she picked up 39 wickets. The economy rate was only 5.

Before 2025, no one had really heard of Shree Charani. Of course, she must have done something tremendously well in the domestic circuit, but to the general public, she was rather unknown. But having made her debut a few months back only, she played a pivotal role in India’s World Cup win.
In the ODIs, in 18 matches, she went on to pick 23 wickets, where her economy was only 5.3, and then in the T20Is, she picked up 14 wickets in 9 encounters. She stood in times where the others were going for runs; she looks a class apart.
Can’t forget the contribution of Pratika Rawal
After Shafali Verma was left out of the Indian team, just a few months before the Women’s World Cup, no one would have thought that this Delhi girl would not let anyone miss the former. But as it turned out, the Delhi girl, in the 21 matches she played in 2025, scored a massive 976 runs at an average of 51, including two tons and six fifties. Yes, her strike-rate of 84 could be bit of an issue, but she is only young and has all the time in the world to imporve.
She was unfortunate to miss out in the semis and the final, but then fortunately Shafali played a stunner in the summit clash vs South Africa.
Richa Ghosh is an absolute beast
My god! Is there a better striker of the cricket ball in women’s cricket.. In a space of couple of years, Richa Ghosh has become the most feared batter lower down the order. The opposition can never really be safe even if they restrict India to 100/5. The keeper-batter comes in and plays whirlwind innings, that just finishes the confidence of the entire team.
This year she played 22 matches and scored over 500 runs, at an average of 31 and a strike-rate of 131. That includes three fifties as well. Yes, she was below-average behind the wickets, but that is a debate for another day.
Jemimah Rodrigues is India’s new batting pillar
She is tiny in stature, but the way her game has grown in the last one year, has been truly exceptional. Until last year, her SR was in the 90s, which has grown to over 100 now; she doesn’t rely much on six-hitting, but is one of the best in finding boundaries, placing the ball in gaps, running between-the-wickets is one of the best in the world, and is supremely fit.
She showed that in her chase vs Australia in the semis, where she scored a ton. This year in 20 matches, she scored 771 runs at an average of 51 including two tons and two fifties.

No list is ever complete without Mandhana. We can’t talk about all the records she created/broke this year, so let’s just see how she performed in 2025. In 23 matches she scored 1362 runs at an average of 61. 5 100s and 5 50s is what she managed in the year. Simply sensational.
