A compact Qi2 magnetic charger focused on safety, portability, and everyday reliability
Like so many people, my phone is my lifeline. I use it for everything from work to playing mindless puzzle games. At the end of the day, I’m living on borrowed battery time most days and need to plug into a charger or put my phone on a charging station. I hate having my phone tethered to something though because it means I have to be tethered, too. My phone is almost like an extension of my hand these days. This is why I like the SolidSafe Magnetic Power Bank from BMX.
About SolidSafe 5K Solid-State Magnetic Power Bank
The SolidSafe 5K is a compact magnetic power bank built for everyday carry, travel, and modern smartphones that rely on fast, reliable charging. Designed by BMX, it combines a slim form factor with a 5000mAh capacity that is ideal for topping off your phone without adding bulk to your pocket or bag.
What sets the SolidSafe 5K apart is its use of advanced battery technology that prioritizes safety and thermal stability. By reducing reliance on traditional liquid electrolytes, the battery is designed to run cooler and offer added peace of mind compared to conventional power banks. This makes it especially appealing for frequent travelers and users who carry a charger daily.
The SolidSafe 5K supports Qi2 magnetic wireless charging up to 15W, snapping securely to compatible iPhone and Android devices for convenient, cable free power. For faster or non wireless charging, it also includes USB C output with support for higher wattage charging, along with a built in USB C cable for added convenience.
A small color display provides clear battery status at a glance, while support for pass through charging and dual device charging makes it easy to keep everything powered throughout the day. Lightweight, TSA friendly, and thoughtfully designed, the SolidSafe 5K is a practical charging companion for users who value safety, portability, and modern charging standards.

User Experience
The SolidSafe power bank arrived in a tastefully designed product box. It is mostly grey with some blue highlights on it, which accentuates the BMX brand colors. The front cover of the box opens to show how the SolidSafe battery is different from other power banks. I like this detail, but also thought it was odd that there wasn’t a transparent window to be able to see the product inside as I typically expect to see when I open a box cover. To get to the power bank you have to open the bottom flap of the box and pull out the inside tray. There is a user guide included, but it’s really self-explanatory. The battery starts charging right away when you place it on the phone’s magnetic charging area. You also have the option to charge using the provided USB-C cable, which doubles as the lanyard.
There is a status button on the side of the power bank that allows you to see the battery percentage of the power bank or the charging input or output wattage while it’s actively charging. It’s a very visual display and it’s very easy to read. I love that the charging information is included and think it was very creative how BMX illustrated the difference between wireless charging and cable charging on the display. Even though there is a wireless charging and wired charging option, the power bank can only provide power to one source at a time. I had my phone charging wirelessly and I plugged my Apple Watch into the USB-C port and the power bank switched from charging the phone to the watch since it was plugged in via USB-C. I unplugged the Apple Watch and then had to turn the power bank back on to initiate charging again with the wireless charging surface.
I completed a timed charging test of my iPhone 16 Pro to see what the phone’s charging rate would be with the power bank. Starting at 29 percent battery, the BMX 5000mAh Solid-State Power Bank charged the iPhone 16 Pro to 59 percent, resulting in a 30% gain over a 37-minute charging session. This works out to an average charging rate of approximately 0.81% per minute.
In real-world terms, this performance aligns well with what you would expect from a compact 5000mAh magnetic power bank. The charging speed was steady throughout the test, with no noticeable drops or interruptions, suggesting consistent power delivery rather than aggressive burst charging followed by throttling. I also monitored the output wattage and it ranged from 8-10W throughout the charging session.
Thermal performance during the test was also noteworthy. The power bank remained only slightly warm to the touch, and the phone did not exhibit excessive heat buildup. This supports BMX’s emphasis on improved safety and heat management with its solid-state battery design, especially during sustained charging sessions.
Overall, the results show that the SolidSafe 5K is well suited for topping off an iPhone during short breaks, commutes, or travel. While it is not designed to fully recharge a phone from empty, it delivers reliable and predictable charging performance that makes it easy to regain a good amount of battery life when you need it most.
Conclusion
The SolidSafe 5K Solid-State Magnetic Power Bank delivers exactly what it promises: safe, dependable, and convenient power in a compact form. It fits easily into daily routines, whether you are commuting, traveling, or simply trying to avoid being tied to a wall charger. Charging performance is consistent, heat is well managed, and the magnetic connection makes it effortless to keep your phone powered while staying mobile. For users who value portability, clean design, and peace of mind, the SolidSafe 5K is a reliable everyday companion.
