Pre-Gamin’: Bulls at Cavaliers (6:30 PM CT) – Projected Lineups, How to Watch, More ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The Chicago Bulls will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight at Rocket Arena in the second game of a home-and-home series. Chicago got the better of its division rival on Wednesday and will be looking to take the lead in the season series.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will once again enter the contest without reigning Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley, along with Max Strus, Sam Merrill, Larry Nance Jr., and Luke Travers. The Cavs have been a shell of their former selves compared to last season and have struggled to find a rotation that works. On the Bulls’ injury report, Ayo Dosunmu and Tre Jones are listed as questionable, while Zach Collins is listed as probable, and rookie Noa Essengue is listed out.

The first two games of this season series, on November 8 and December 17, produced plenty of highlights and storylines that are sure to carry over into tonight’s matchup. In the first meeting, the Cavaliers took care of business with a 128–122 victory. In the most recent game, the Bulls responded with a much-needed win, delivering a fairly dominant 127–111 performance.

Another Josh Giddey Triple-Double: Bulls 127 , Cavaliers 111 – December 17, 2025

What to Watch For

The Chicago Bulls have had a rough couple of weeks, going 2–8 in their last ten games. This dip can be attributed to injuries, a lack of rhythm, and inconsistent effort. However, many key rotational players have returned and have begun to show signs of the Bulls team that opened the season 5–0. The deep bench not only outworks opponents but also allows the starters to get significant rest. In their most recent game against the Cavaliers, the Bulls led in second-chance points (8–3), fast-break points (12–8), points off turnovers (15–7), bench points (28–11), and even forced turnovers (12–7). Points in the paint have been a major weapon for the Bulls in their last two wins. Against Charlotte, Chicago recorded a franchise-record 80 points in the paint, then followed it up with a 16-point advantage in that category against the Cavaliers. Expect the Bulls to continue attacking the interior, while the Cavaliers look to clog the paint to prevent a repeat performance. Head coach Billy Donovan had been under the microscope for recent and past failures, but responded with two key changes on December 17. First, he implemented a double-big lineup, rotating combinations of Nikola Vučević, Jalen Smith, and Zach Collins. This adjustment helped generate offensive rebounds and force turnovers, giving the Bulls extra possessions. The second change was a shift to zone defense, which allowed Chicago to disrupt passing lanes and compensate for less-than-ideal defensive matchups.

— K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) December 18, 2025 The Chicago Bulls also generated easy baskets through strong court vision and timely passing. They won the assist battle, 35–26, with 22 of those assists coming from Josh Giddey and Tre Jones alone. Having a true floor general for both the starting unit and the bench ensures the offense doesn’t stagnate. Finally, Josh Giddey delivered a massive performance: 23 points, 11 assists, 11 rebounds, two steals, one block, and a career-high five made three-pointers. He has been averaging a near triple-double this season and could be in line for another one tonight. On the Cavaliers’ side, struggles have continued, as they’ve managed just three wins in their last ten games and now sit only slightly above the Bulls in the Eastern Conference standings. Cleveland has been forced to move De’Andre Hunter back to the bench and is clearly feeling the absence of Evan Mobley. Another home loss to Chicago tonight could force some uncomfortable conversations within the organization.
