The Colorado State Patrol Statewide DUI Team will increase their presence in Weld County this weekend.
The increased patrols Saturday and Sunday will focus on deterring impaired driving on major and busy roadways and stop impaired driving “in its tracks”, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol. Though impaired driving will be the focus, any dangerous driving reported or observed will be addressed.
Troopers have investigated 127 crashes resulting from impaired driving from Jan. 1- Nov. 25 in Weld County, according to state data. Of those crashes, 12 were fatal and 43 resulted in injuries. The majority of impaired crashes happen on Saturdays and Sundays.
Reports about suspected impaired drivers can be made by calling *277, 911 or 970-249-4392, and reports should include information on vehicle description, license plate number, location and direction of travel, driver description and the driving behavior that’s of concern.
