The Nahshon Wright story has been the feel-good tale of 2025.
Could it continue into 2026? And beyond?
This clip, in which Nahshon Wright brings up the possibility of an extension, came across my TikTok feed on Friday night. And while I hadn’t been thinking about an extension for the cornerback, it is something that is currently rattling around my brain after hearing this clip:

Cornerback Nahshon Wright has been a revelation. The 27-year-old cornerback has gone from an afterthought offseason signing who figured to provide depth (and not much more) to Chicago’s secondary to someone whose five interceptions trails league-leader (and teammate) Kevin Byard III by one. Wright has played in 13 games, made 12 starts, and has been in on 96 percent of the team’s defensive snaps. He has been playing his best ball lately, too. Wright even won the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award for November. What better time to be heating up?
CHICAGO BEARS WEEK 15 PREVIEW VS. CLEVELAND BROWNS
Let me be clear. Sunday’s upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns is a big one for everyone in the Chicago Bers organization. Players, coaches, staffers, and everyone else who falls under the umbrella. This team is making a playoff push and it needs everyone pulling from the same end of the rope. But with that being said, there are a handful of players who are playing for something more — their future. And Nahshon Wright is one of those players.

Nahshon Wright is certainly playing his way into a new contract. Whether it is with the Bears or someone else is still be determined. And for what it’s worth, it will be determined by Wright’s play on the field. If he can put together a strong finish to the 2025 season, it would (1) help the Bears win ball games, (2) could help the team clinch its first postseason berth since 2018, and (3) position the player for a nice payraise in the offseason.
