Scoreboard Watching: Games that Matter for the Chicago Bears in Week 15 ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

With just four games left on the regular season schedule, there are a lot of moving parts in the playoff race. Here’s what Chicago Bears fans should be watching and rooting for in Week 15.

Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Thursday, 7:15 PM CT (Prime Video)

Someone has to win the NFC South. Tampa Bay and Carolina enter Week 15 with identical 7-6 records. One of them will not win the division, and for the Bears’ sake, we hope that team can’t reach nine wins, which would guarantee they won’t finish ahead of the Bears in the wild card standings.

So, here’s to rooting for Buccaneers and Panthers losses the rest of the way, with only one exception: Week 17, when Carolina takes on the Seattle Seahawks.

Green Bay Packers at Denver Broncos — Sunday, 3:25 PM CT (CBS)

The late afternoon window on Sunday is going to be a chaotic scoreboard-watching fest for Bears fans. If Chicago takes care of business, there are plenty of things to pay attention to for playoff seeding, and we start in Green Bay, where we’re talking about a potential first-place swap between the Packers and Bears for the second consecutive week with a Chicago win and Green Bay loss at Mile High.

Looking at the Packers’ schedule outside the next two weeks, this might be the most realistic spot where we can hope for another team to hand them a loss, with matchups against the Ravens and Vikings to close the regular season.

Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Rams — Sunday, 3:25 PM CT (FOX)

Similarly, the Lions’ two non-Bears opponents beyond this game are soft (Pittsburgh and Minnesota), so this is likely the final non-Bears game where we can see the Lions lose down the stretch.

Detroit’s sixth loss of the season helps Chicago in a potential wild-card scenario. On the flipside, if the Lions knock off the Rams, Chicago would gain an advantage in the divisional winner seeding if they can win the division.

Tennessee Titans at San Francisco 49ers — Sunday, 3:25 PM CT (FOX)

This one is simple. The 49ers have a slight chance to win the NFC West with the Rams and the Seahawks ahead of them (in an albeit close win-loss column race), which means they’re going to be vying for a wild card spot. Something the Bears may also be fighting for if they can’t overtake the Packers in the standings in the next two weeks, with the way the schedule is set up. I sure hope the Titans are feeling frisky and looking to play spoiler in Santa Clara this weekend.

Indianapolis Colts at Seattle Seahawks — Sunday, 3:25 PM CT (CBS)

How perfect would it be to see Philip Rivers come out of retirement this week, get on a plane to Seattle, and carve up the Seahawks? For Chicago fans, very. Frankly, it’s more likely running back Jonathan Taylor does the heavy lifting while Rivers manages the game, and I would be okay with that, too. Although Indy’s secondary is about as depleted as their quarterback room, it could be a big day for Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold and company.
