Patrol officers responding to a report of a predawn domestic dispute and gunfire at a South Bay apartment complex Tuesday found a man and woman in their 20s dead of apparent gunshot wounds in a rental unit there, authorities reported.
Police said a 911 caller reported hearing what sounded like a family argument followed by a gunshot shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at the residential complex on Kingswood Drive in Chula Vista, just west of Hilltop Drive and north of Orange Avenue.
Investigating officers entered the apartment where the shooting had occurred and found the bodies of the man and woman in a bedroom, Sgt. Anthony Molina said. The names of the deceased, who were believed to have lived in the residence, were withheld pending family notification.
“A firearm was recovered from the scene, and at this time there is no indication of any outstanding suspects,” the sergeant said late Tuesday morning. “Other residents were located within the household, and they remain cooperative with the investigation.”
Further information was not immediately available, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
