23-year-old Teterevkova, who swims under the guidance of Michailas Romanovskis at Sostinės Sporto Centrase in Vilnius, stopped the clock in a time of 2:19.30. That not only represented a new lifetime best, but it also established a new Lithuanian Record in the event.
The swim improved on her own previous record of 2:20.48, set last December at the World Championships in Budapest.
She was never in medal contention, sitting sixth through the first 100 and fifth through the 175 before blasting the fastest final 25 in the field to grab bronze by 14 hundredths.
Teterevkova’s improvement came almost entirely on the back half, as the two swims were nearly identical through the first 100 meters. She opened in 1:07.08 through the 100, eight-hundredths under the record pace of 1:07.16, before out-splitting herself by two-tenths on the third 50 and nine-tenths coming home.

Teterevkova’s swim represents her first medal at a Short Course European Championships. She did, however, win bronze at the 2022 long course meet.
She hasn’t competed at SC Euros since 2019, when she took 19th in the 200, 23rd in the 100, and 27th in the 50.
Teterevkova has focused mostly on long course in recent years, but did compete at the 2021 and 2024 Short Course Worlds. At both meets, she made the 100 final, finishing seventh in Abu Dhabi and eighth in Budapest. She also placed 11th in the 200 at both championships, 12th in the 50 in 2021, and 21st in the 50 in 2024.
The two-time Olympian made the final of this race at the Paris Games, where she touched fifth, before going on to take sixth in the World Championship final last summer.
Earlier in the meet, Teterevkova finished seventh in the 100 breast in 1:04.58, a few tenths off her lifetime-best 1:04.15 from last year’s Short Course Worlds semifinals. Her meet is now concluded, as she has been scratched from the 50 breast heats, where she was entered as the 14th seed.
