I’m a diehard fan of Dunkin' cold brew, but sometimes, when the weather is freezing, even I feel a little weird sipping on a beverage poured over a pile of ice cubes. So I decided now was the perfect time to explore the chain’s hot drinks in the hope of finding a more seasonally appropriate sip.
To help save you the trouble of trying everything, I sampled my way through 17 different beverages to find the best hot Dunkin' drink and asked a few friends to help with the tasting too, so I could get a few more opinions.

How I Tasted Dunkin’s Hot Drinks
Courtesy Korin Miller
For drinks traditionally made with milk, like the cappuccino and latte, I opted for whole milk. Other milk options at Dunkin' include skim milk, cream, almond milk and oat milk. I also skipped the added sugars and syrups unless the drinks contained them by design.
Because everyone’s taste buds are different, I recruited five friends to sample the drinks with me, then polled each on which beverages stood out and which fell short—and why. The final list reflects my own thoughts, as well as feedback from the group.
17 Dunkin’ Hot Drinks, Ranked from Worst to Best
Here's my full rundown of Dunkin' hot drinks from worst to best, along with detailed tasting notes and the cost of each drink in my (sales tax-free) area. Again, bear in mind that this ranking is highly subjective. Yours might look different from mine, and that's OK! Think of this as a fun discovery journey for finding a Dunkin' hot drink that suits your preferences.

17. Matcha Latte, $4.90

The drink was also much sweeter than I expected. (I later learned that Dunkin' matcha powder is pre-sweetened, which explains the flavor.) All my fellow testers had similar notes...except for one who ranked this drink as her favorite.

16. Chai Latte, $4.80
Courtesy Korin Miller
If you like chai flavors but would prefer to avoid the sugar rush, consider asking your barista to add one less pump of syrup to your cup. I also think the latte's strong spice notes would be best enjoyed in smaller doses. If I were to order this again, I'd probably size down from a medium drink.
15. Cool Mint Herbal Infusion Tea, $2.80
Courtesy Korin Miller
The flavor was definitely peppy; even without a caffeine jolt, this brew will perk you up. For my taste, however, the mint was a little much. As you'll see below, I preferred some of the menu's more balanced teas.
14. Espresso, $2.20
Courtesy Korin Miller
In my opinion, Dunkin' espresso does best when diluted in the Americano (ranked higher in this list) or used in the chain's blended beverages.

13. Hibiscus Kiss Herbal Infusion Tea, $2.80
Courtesy Korin Miller
Tea is rarely described as “fun,” but that’s what the Hibiscus Kiss Herbal Infusion tea feels like to me. The tea has a deep pinkish hue, for starters, and features a blend of tasty flavors—rosehips, chicory, lemongrass and licorice root—in addition to the tangy hibiscus. Together, this creates a flavor profile that's naturally sweet, floral and slightly fruity. The tea is caffeine-free, too. I enjoyed it! I could also see this drink being a hit with kids.
12. Harmony Leaf Green Tea, $2.80
Courtesy Korin Miller.
Green tea generally doesn't excite me, so I was pleasantly surprised by this brew. Dunkin’s Harmony Leaf Green Tea contains a mix of green tea, lemon peel and ginger, resulting in some nice zingy notes to offset the tea's predominant grassy flavor. The overall flavor was mild but intriguingly complex. If you like green tea, as some of my fellow testers do, you'll love what this drink has going on.
11. Hot Chocolate, $2.90
Courtesy Korin Miller
Dunkin' makes its hot chocolate by combining a proprietary powdered mix with hot water. It tastes a little like Swiss Miss with a more marshmallow-y flavor. If you prefer your hot chocolate with a rich and creamy base, this drink might not quite do it for you. For me, it was creamy enough, and the cocoa notes came through nicely. While I didn't go for the optional espresso shot Dunkin' offers with this drink, I could totally see it tasting great with the drink's chocolatey base.
10. Bold Breakfast Black Tea, $2.80
Courtesy Korin Miller
No muss, no fuss: Dunkin's black tea is black tea and black tea only. This is a full-bodied brew with an earthy aroma and subtle notes of florals and spice—almost like a Ceylon variety. It delivers bold flavor with real presence without being overbearing. A medium contains 90 mg of caffeine, just FYI.
9. Chamomile Fields Herbal Infusion Tea, $2.80
Courtesy Korin Miller
I found this tea to be light, herbal and simply delightful. This would be a great cozy morning drink and since it's caffeine-free, you can also enjoy it jitter-free in the evening, too.
8.Latte, $4.80
Courtesy Korin Miller
When it comes to espresso drinks, lattes contain the most steamed milk. Here, the milk's natural sweetness did a good job of mellowing out the bitterness of the espresso. But after drinking the whole cup, I did feel like I'd guzzled a lot of plain dairy. Don't get me wrong; this was a very good latte! I was just more impressed by some of the other drinks on the menu.
7. Americano, $3.50
Courtesy Korin Miller
I must say, Dunkin' absolutely nailed this one. Despite their simplicity, Americanos can be tricky to get right: Too much water and the beverage is weak; too little and it ends up excessively bitter for its volume. The ratios in my Dunkin' Americano were perfect, like something I’d get from a specialty coffee shop. And at $3.50, it's a good value.
6.Macchiato, $4.80
Courtesy Korin Miller
Dunkin' aced the combination here, adding just enough foamy milk to take the edge off the harsher notes in the espresso I described earlier. My macchiato had a strong, smooth flavor and proved to be a solid entry in Dunkin's espresso drink lineup.

3. Toasted White Chocolate Signature Latte, $4.90
Courtesy Korin Miller
Dunkin’s Toasted White Chocolate Signature Latte—a seasonal item—was a surprise hit for me. Made with espresso, milk and toasted white chocolate flavoring, then topped with whipped cream, caramel drizzle andcinnamon sugar, it's way more than I'd normally want in a coffee drink.
And yet the cozy mix of white chocolate and cinnamon kept me sipping. And I liked how the caramel played against the latte base. Just note the whipped cream melts quickly (mine disappeared into the drink before I could make the quick drive home). And as with some of the other sweet drinks on this list, you might want to order a small to avoid sugar overload. But if you're craving a heavenly drinkable dessert, this is it.
2. Dunkin’ Midnight Coffee, $2.80
Courtesy Korin Miller
I sipped the two coffees head to head and found Midnight had a richer, fuller-bodied taste. And while Original is more lively, Midnight is slightly bitter in a pleasing way—just enough to give this darker coffee some nice depth of flavor. This would be a great choice on sleepy mornings when you want a wake-up brew with a little more kick to it.

1. Dunkalatte, $4.95
Courtesy Korin Miller
The Dunkalatte is similar to a classic latte in that it's made with steamed whole milk and espresso. But this drink also includes a special ingredient: coffee milk. The lightly sweetened dairy product is enhanced with coffee extract, which adds another layer of flavor to the drink.
