The ultimate upside-down battle between Vecna and his Demogorgons versus Eleven and the Party is shaping up to be a cinematic epic that “Stranger Things” fans won’t want to miss on the big screen.
The “Stranger Things” finale is heading to over 500 theaters across the U.S. and Canada, and Southern California fans are getting front row seats at some of the region’s most iconic theaters. Beginning at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and running through Jan. 1, 2026, fans can experience the final chapter of Netflix’s beloved ’80s nostalgia-packed sci-fi series for the first time.
The official series Instagram posted the announcement on Dec. 2, writing, “Witness the epic series conclusion of ‘Stranger Things,’ together” and provided the link st5finale.com for fans to get tickets. Each participating theater is selling vouchers online and purchasing one locks in your seat for the grand finale.

Some of the theaters participating in the special showings in Southern California include L.A.’s Egyptian Theatre, Alamo Drafthouse Downtown L.A., Universal Cinema AMC at CityWalk Hollywood, Regal L.A. Live, AMC Orange 30, AMC Tustin 14 @ The District, AMC Dine-In Fullerton 20, Regal Irvine Spectrum, Cinemark Century Huntington Beach and XD, AMC Dine-In Ontario Mills 30, Regal Edwards Ontario Palace Stadium, AMC Tyler Galleria 16, Laemlle’s Claremont 5 and more.
The Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, told Variety in an interview that the upcoming theatrical release of “Stranger Things” is a “dream” come true. Matt said that the plan was to run the finale dubbed “The Rightside Up” in theaters for some time, but it had been kept under wraps until the announcement.
“This actually recreates and is a real movie moment because everyone’s experiencing it at the same time together,” he said. “I think that’s what we’re excited about, and it’s the first time we’ve had that opportunity.”
The finale will run 2 hours and 5 minutes, which is basically a movie, so having an experience with concession-level snacks and a theater full of fans, who up until this point have only watched at home, is the perfect way to close this chapter of the iconic series. After all, what’s more “Stranger Things” than spending time with friends in the upside-down one last time?
