Snow will start falling in the Denver area early Wednesday morning, stacking up multiple inches as it continues throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service.
The winter storm expected to start Tuesday in Colorado’s mountains and move into the Denver area after midnight, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, will mark this season’s first impactful snow for the Interstate 25 corridor, weather service forecasters said on social media.
A winter weather advisory will go into effect at midnight and remain active until 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the weather service.
“Plan on slippery road conditions and slow travel,” forecasters stated in the advisory. “The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday morning commute, with potential for slick roads to persist into the evening commute as well.”
The Boulder and Denver metro areas — including parts of Boulder, Jefferson, Broomfield, Douglas, Adams, Arapahoe and Elbert counties — can expect between 3 and 5 inches of snow, according to the advisory.
As of Tuesday morning, snow forecasts from the weather service included up to:
6 inches in Brighton, Broomfield, Boulder, Commerce City, Lafayette, Littleton, Northglenn and at Denver International Airport; 7 inches in Arvada, Aurora, Centennial, Denver and Highlands Ranch; 8 inches in Golden, Lakewood, Parker and Roxborough Park; And 9 inches in Castle Rock and Larkspur.Related Articles
