ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Areas of lake effect snow will increase during the morning for areas south of Lake Ontario. Yellow Alert today for the wintry conditions. Lake flakes taper off later today around Rochester but will continue into Wayne County tonight. Amounts will be light for most of us with a coating to an inch or two. A bit more is possible near Ridge Rd and Rt. 104 with more impactful amounts in Wayne County where 3 to 6 inches may fall today with locally higher totals. Roads will be mainly wet but watch for a few slick spots. Travel will be more difficult east of Rochester. More cold weather with temps in the 30s and another day with gusty winds around 30mph. The feel like windchill will be in the teens and 20s.
Looking ahead to the weekend cold weather continues on Saturday but nothing more than a few flurries expected. Some light snow will arrive late Saturday night into Sunday morning with an inch or less. Temps briefly head near 40 on Sunday with snow to rain showers in the afternoon. More cold weather arrives next week with some widespread snow possible on Tuesday and then local lake effect mid to late week.
