The Bill Behrens Invitational at the beginning of November saw Swim Atlanta 12-year-old Parker Wheeler win eight events, and set a new Georgia LSC record in the boys 500 freestyle, swimming 4:47.87.

This swim marked Wheeler’s first time under 4:50 in the event with his previous record coming in at 4:50.72 from March of this year. He leads the country in the event currently, with the next fastest 11-12 boy this season coming in at 4:54.29, set by 12-year-old Beckum Rychnovsky at the beginning of November.

Wheeler will move up to 17th in the all-time rankings in the event, coming in just over two tenths behind Robert Margalis‘s 4:47.65 from 1995. The National Age Group Record in the event is held by Mason Turner with his 2019 swim of 4:41.26.

Wheeler still has a few months left as an 11-12 swimmer where he can move further up the rankings in the event.

He also moved up the current season rankings in six of his other seven events. He won the 50 fly in 24.26, which is the top time in the 11-12 rankings this season, coming in three tenths ahead of Connor Ventura’s 24.55.

He also swam top 10 times in the 100 IM (2nd — 56.44), 100 free (3rd — 49.37) and 100 fly (3rd — 55.40), and the 50 free (5th — 23.11).

Wheeler has the top 200 freestyle time in the country with the 1:47.11 he swam at the beginning of October at the Swim Atlanta October Invitational, which was also a new LSC Record when he swam it. At the Bill Behrens Invitational, he swam 1:47.72 to win the event. He currently sits 18th in the all-time rankings with Thomas Heilman holding the NAG record at 1:44.28.
