Mike Norvell will reportedly return as Florida State’s head football coach for the 2026 college football season. College football insider Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports broke the news Sunday afternoon.
Norvell has had an up-and-down tenure as FSU’s head coach. The 2026 campaign will be his 7th season leading the Seminoles.
Year 6 for Norvell started well, as the Noles shocked the college football world with a Week 1 upset of Alabama. Florida State, though, has struggled the rest of the year.
FSU has a 5-6 record entering Rivalry Week. The Seminoles will need a victory at 3-8 Florida to get a 6th win for bowl eligibility. Florida State finished with a 2-6 mark in ACC play, dropping all 4 conference road games.
Norvell has a 38-33 record leading the FSU football program. In 2022 and ’23, Florida State went 23-4 under Norvell, nearly making the College Football Playoff two years ago. Outside of those seasons, however, Norvell is just 15-19. Last year’s team posted a 2-10 record.
