Aaron Rodgers wants to let bygones be bygones.
When discussing his availability for Sunday’s upcoming game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he no longer wants to be the villain in the lives of Bears fans.
“I’d rather not be [the villain]. I’m not in Green Bay anymore. I feel like we can let bygones be bygones. Maybe. I can, I guess,” Rodgers told reporters (h/t Awful Announcing for the transcription). “It’s a great rivalry. I mean, in the history of all sports, you talk about the Lakers and the Celtics and the Red Sox and the Yankees. You’ve got to talk about the Packers and the Bears. And there’s been some great memories there.”
I think Aaron Rodgers can take that sentiment and shove it.
Great memories? Hardly. For you? Sure. For me? And every other Bears fan, “great” memories are few and far between when Aaron Rodgers is involved. Heck, the good memories are so limited that the one that stands out most to me is Robbie Gould eliminating the Packers from the playoffs with a field goal as time expired at Lambeau Field back in January 2022.
If you can stomach it, you can watch his full media availability embedded below:
Who wants to put an end to Aaron Rodgers’ reign of terror?
With great power comes great responsibility. There is some Bears player on this roster who could make some history if things break the right way for Chicago’s football team. I just don’t know who it will be. But I do know that there is a precedent for putting an exclamation point on the career of a long-time Bears nuisance.

In December 2010, Corey Wotton sacked Brett Favre at TCF Bank Stadium in what turned out to be the last time the Bears would face off against their long-time nemesis. Favre gave his side of the story back in 2013 (via CBS Sports):
“My last play. Actually the only time in my career when I was completely out. Ten to 15 seconds,. Miserable night, the dome had collapsed, our season had gone from bad to worse. I didn’t have to play in the game, wanted to. I remember telling myself in pregame, ‘you’re an idiot, what do you stand to gain in this?’ But I thought, ‘I’ll survive this game, I’ll be fine.’
…
“[It was] one of the most minor hits I’ve ever [taken],” Favre said. “The guy didn’t even hit me, he pushed me. I threw the ball and the field of course was solid ice, it was like concrete. I hit the left side of my head and the next thing I remember, I was snoring as our trainer was kind of shaking me saying, ‘Are you OK?’ I look at the footage, even though it wasn’t long, there was that 10-15 second period where I was asleep.”
To be clear, I do not want the Bears to injure Aaron Rodgers. That would be crude and dishonorable. However, what I do want is for Rodgers to be hurried, hit, knocked down, and sacked to the point where he might consider retiring in the middle of the game. I want him to get roughed up in a Bears win and sent out of Soldier Field with a loss in what figures to be his final game in a stadium where he has dished out more pain than he has taken. I want 60 minutes of this image below:

Montez Sweat — An obvious choice. Sweat was brought in to be a game-changing sack machine. And while his play has been up-and-down the last two seasons, one memorable moment could change the narrative around his game. Andrew Billings — Large and in charge, Billings is the type of interior defensive lineman who you see on TV and thank the heavens that you are not in a line of work where a guy of his size can fall on you. Dominique Robinson — A Day 3 pick in 2022 who is only now starting to contribute, Robinson is an unlikely source for a sack attack. But sometimes, it is the most unlikely candidate who makes something shake. C.J. Gardner-Johnson — It hasn’t taken long for CJGJ to become a fan favorite. A game-changing sack of Aaron Rodgers from the slot could cement his status as a Bears icon.Hence then, the article about who wants to step up and end the aaron rodgers era was published today ( ) and is available on Bleacher Nation ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
