British vigilantes film themselves harassing migrants in Paris ...Middle East

News by : (inews) -

British vigilantes who have been attempting to block illegal Channel crossings by slashing small boats along the French coastline have set their sights on a new target – homeless migrants in Paris.

Using the term “Operation Stop the Boats”, two members of the group that spearheaded efforts to fly England flags across the country, have been filming and posting videos of their new protest, while encouraging others to “take a stand”.

The men, posting to both personal social media and the accounts belonging to flag-raising group Raise the Colours, have now travelled to the French capital, where they have been approaching homeless camps, specifically filming conversations with African migrants.

One video records one of the men shouting “Africa” from a car towards a group of black men sitting on the street, who he suspects are migrants. He asks where the men came from and if they want to go to England.

The pair then attempt to have a conversation with the men, asking: “Who tells you to go to England?”.

In other videos, the men repeat several claims commonly used by the far right, such as saying that migrants entering the UK illegally are all “rapists and murderers… coming to a town near you”.

The i Paper understands the Home Office is aware of the actions of the men and their attempts to boost numbers to their cause.

It issued a warning to dissuade other anti-migrant protesters from travelling to France to take part in vigilante action.

“We recognise the frustration surrounding small boat crossings,” a Home Office spokesperson said.

“However, taking the law into your own hands will not resolve the issue.”

The latest video sees anti-migrant activists approaching men in homeless camps who say they have travelled to France from a range of African countries

At one point they accuse one of the migrants of holding a knife – despite his hands being empty – and make him stand back from the car window.

The videos include the men making a number of unsubstantiated claims and conspiracies informed by their short time in France, including stating gangs are not involved in the movement of migrants over the English Channel.

This is despite named people smugglers have been sanctioned for their involvement in trafficking migrants, including Bledar Lala, an Albanian linked to criminal efforts to smuggles migrants from Belgium to the UK via the English Channel.

“Their behaviour normalises the idea that it is acceptable to approach black and brown people and question them on their residential status, or their travel plans, in the name of ‘patriotism’.

“The fact that they are not only doing these things themselves, but actively encouraging others to do the same, is very concerning,” a researcher at Hope Not Hate told The i Paper.

Anti-migrant sentiment in the UK has led to a number of protests across the country, with local residents and far-right groups taking to the street to demonstrate against asylum seeker and migrant accommodation costs and locations.

It is understood actions of the British vigilantes in France would be a matter for the French authorities, rather than the UK government.

The escalation in anti-migrant behaviour seen in the videos comes after Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood set out a package of reforms to asylum policies aimed at tackling illegal migration, telling MPs the current situation is “out of control and unfair”.

A treaty signed earlier this year allows the UK to return small boat migrants to France in exchange for accepting legal asylum seekers, which, while still in early stages of being rolled out, has been viewed as ineffective by the right wing. There have been 113 returns to France, with 84 asylum seekers allowed into the UK.

On 14 November, 217 migrants arrived via small boats – the same day the government released figures showing that 48,560 migrants had been removed or deported from the UK between 1 July 2024 and 31 October 2025. This is a 23 per cent increase on the 39,510 returns recorded across the previous 16 months.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “This week, the Home Secretary has announced the biggest reforms to tackle illegal migration in decades, to restore order and control to our borders and make it less attractive for illegal migrants to come to Britain.”
