2025 Illinois High School Association Girls State Championships
Nov. 15, 2025 Westmont, Illinois SCY (25 yards) ResultsThe Stevenson High School girls swimming and diving program has a history of quality swimmers and has seen the school’s boys team win a state title before, but had never had a state title to call its own.
That changed this year.
The Patriots made history by winning their first ever state championship at the Illinois High School Association State Championships, finishing nine points ahead of runner-up St. Charles North.
Stevenson was paced by the state’s best sprint freestyler, junior Aria Grossenbach, who has committed to Louisville.
Grossenbach won the 50 free in 22.85 and the 100 free in 49.19, both personal best times. She was 3rd in the 50 free and 6th in 100 free at last year’s state meet.
In the 400 free relay, Grossenbach also swam an anchor leg of 49.43 to help Stevenson finish 3rd and make sure it comfortably had more points than St. Charles North.
The St. Charles North team of Lulu Negro, Kate Farrell, Hannah Maksimuk and Tess Stavropoulos won the event in 3:24.79.
Stevenson won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:42.89 behind the team of Vanessa Miecznikowski, Nelli Sandor, Linnea Florin and Claire Wang, while Rosary’s quartet of Yaya Nieckula, Annabelle Nawrocki, Abby Moore and Paige Kowal took the 200 free relay in 1:32.72.
The other multiple event winner was St. Charles North senior Kate Farrell, an Illinois commit.
Farrell swam personal best times to win the 200 IM (1:59.84) and 500 free (4:50.90), improving on a second-place finish in the 200 IM and a third-place finish in the 500 free at last year’s state meet.
