Greeley city staff will host public meetings for residents and businesses to discuss the details of the city’s latest transportation plan.
The city will host two public meetings on Wednesday, Nov. 19, where staff will share details about the Mobility Enhancements for Regional Growth and Equity (MERGE) project. Local businesses are invited to the first meeting from 4:30-5:30 p.m., followed by the community meeting from 5:30-6:30 p.m., both at Greeley West High School, 2401 35th Ave.
The MERGE project includes the construction of two interchanges on the U.S. 34 Bypass at 35th and 47th avenues, as well as a center loading mobility hub that will bring together public transit, bike and connections to Centerra and Denver. The city recently entered into a partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation, where it agreed to reimburse CDOT no more than $1,538,901.
At the meetings, city staff and project experts will share timelines and explain planned improvements and how the community can get involved. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
Construction on the project is expected to begin in late 2026 and to be completed by the end of 2029.
“These improvements will serve our community for decades. To better serve the needs of our residents, we need community input now and as the project progresses,” Deputy Director of Public Works and Transportation Bhooshan Karnik said in a news release. “MERGE is about safety, connectivity and mobility. We want to be intentional about community feedback and the project goals before we even break ground.”
