There is plenty of good news to share from the Thursday Chicago Bears injury report update, but seeing that safety Jaquan Brisker has missed the first two practices of the week has me concerned.
Brisker was joined by linebacker T.J. Edwards (hand, hamstring), left guard Joe Thuney (rest), and rookie wide receiver Jahdae Walker (concussion) in sitting out Thursday’s practice. Edwards not practicing makes sense. After all, he just had surgery to repair a broken hand and is dealing with his second hamstring injury of the season. Thuney gets a veteran’s rest day every week, so his absence doesn’t sound alarms. And because I don’t think it is smart to rush players back from concussion protocol, I’m on board with Walker taking all the time he needs.
ICYMI: Wednesday’s Bears Injury Report
But seeing Jaquan Brisker out for a second consecutive practice sounds some alarms. The Bears have already been dealing with a plethora of injuries in the secondary. Cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, and Terell Smith are on injured reserve. And while Johnson and Gordon are expected to return this year, it won’t be soon enough to be helpful in the team’s upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings. For what it’s worth, the Bears do have safety depth. Jonathan Owens and Elijah Hicks both started games in place of last year. And if push comes to shove, the Bears could slide Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to safety in a pinch.

Even with the safety depth, it would stink if Jaquan Brisker misses time due to injuries. He has played well and hasn’t spent any time in concussion protocol. Hopefully, he can get on the practice field sometime soon.
As for the rest of the Thursday update of the Bears injury report ahead, here you go:

There were eight Bears players who received upgrades on Thursday’s injury report. That includes players like safety Kevin Byard III and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, who were given veteran’s rest days on Wednesday. It was also encouraging to see cornerback Tyrique Stevenson go from not practicing at all on Wednesday to being a full-go on Thursday. I feel similarly about seeing running back D’Andre Swift go from limited participation on Wednesday to being a full participant one day later.
Friday’s Bears injury report will be telling for Jaquan Brisker and the others whose status could be in question for the Week 11 game against the Minnesota Vikings. Stay tuned.
