New Power Rankings, Waiver Wire Fodder, MNF Flex Watch, and Other Bears Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

A donut shop (Dat Donut) recently opened under the Wellington Brown Line station, so I stopped by yesterday, grabbed a half-dozen, took one bite, and thought to myself: “Oh, I had forgotten how delicious donuts can taste.” I’m already looking forward to my next visit. And if I can figure out how to loop that into my Bears Sunday routine, I’ll definitely be a regular customer.

When the Chicago Bears travel to face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11, they will do so as a top-10 team. Well, at least according to the Pro Football Talk rankings:

Well, look who’s cracked the top-10 of the Pro Football Talk power rankings. [image or embed]

We are nine games into the Ben Johnson era and the Bears are already cracking the top-10 of power rankings. To be clear, I don’t put a ton of stock into power rankings. But they are more fun to look at when your favorite team is in the top third of the league. And since Chicago’s football team hasn’t been there in a while, I found myself wanting to share that bit of news with you on a Thursday morning. Where the Bears check in on other notable power rankings: 13th (CBS Sports), 14th (ESPN), 14th (FOX Sports), 15th (The Athletic), and 16th (NFL Media). In his lastest Q&A mailbag, the Trib’s Brad Biggs brings clarity to the Asante Samuel Jr. situation. Biggs reports that Samuel, who was reportedly slated to visit the Bears on Tuesday, never made his scheduled trip to Halas Hall. Instead, Samuel signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad. What an odd situation that turned out to be. Sep 8, 2025; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Chicago Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright (26) returns an interception for a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings during second half at Soldier Field. Mandatory Credit: David Banks-Imagn Images As for the cornerbacks currently on the Bears’ roster, they know they’ll have their hands full trying to cover Vikings star Justin Jefferson. (Sun-Times) Nicholas Moreano (Marquee) gets Bears rookie tight end Colston Loveland and stud right tackle Darnell Wright to break down top plays from the team’s Week 10 win against the New York Giants in what continues to be my favorite series to read from reporters on the Bears beat. In baseball, there is no such thing as having too much pitching. And in the football world, there is no such thing as having too many linemen. So it piques my interest to see this bit of news from NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero:

The Jaguars are releasing veteran DT Khalen Saunders, per source. A two-time Super Bowl champion in Kansas City, Saunders now heads to waivers with a chance to help another contender in a playoff push. pic.twitter.com/IFYI1O7iy6

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) November 13, 2025 By virtue of their 6-3 record, the Bears are on the bottom end of the NFL waiver order. But I would be on board with Chicago’s football team putting a waiver claim on defensive tackle Khalen Saunders just in case he slipped down the wire. The 29-year-old defensive lineman played collegiately at Western Illinois, owns two Super Bowl rings, and has 70 games of experience with the Kansas City Chiefs (2019-22) and New Orleans Saints (2023-24) before his brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2025). Perhaps his familiarity with Bears Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen from their time with the Saints could be helpful in a possible pursuit. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio makes a good point about how flex scheduling for MNF and TNF needs to begine earlier. There is no good reason for football fans to be stuck with a Monday Night Football showdown between the Dallas Cowboys (3-5-1) and Las Vegas Raiders (2-7) as the final island game to wrap up Week 11. I’d rather watch Chiefs-Broncos (3:25 p.m. CT on CBS), Seahawks-Rams (3:05 p.m. CT on FOX), or Bills-Buccaneers (noon on CBS). With that in mind, Monday Night Football flex scheduling can begin starting in Week 12 and goes through Week 17. Teams will get 12-days notice before that particular schedule flip can happen. We haven’t had a MNF flex game just yet. Would the league and its TV sponsors try to move the Week 14 game against the Packers from a FOX noon kickoff to a Monday Night Football affair? That is the only game I see on Chicago’s upcoming schedule that could get the flex treatment.
