University of Pennsylvania vs Villanova
November 5th, 2025 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Sheer Pool SCY (25 yards) Results Final Score: Penn Women: 179 Villanova Women: 115
Two Sheerr Pool Records bit the dust last night in Philadelphia as the University of Pennsylvania Quaker women rolled past the Villanova Wildcats, putting a stop to the Wildcat women’s four-meet winning streak. It is the Quaker women’s 5th consecutive win over Villanova.
The Penn women have competed in just two meets this year, with their first coming just four days prior against Delaware. They have held them both in the newly renovated Sheerr pool, and pool records have been falling by the wayside.
Penn sophomore Kayla Fu has broken pool records in both outings, and was joined on Wednesday by teammate Kate Levensten.
The Quaker women turned in a dominant performance over the Wildcats. The Villanova women registered just two individual victories and one relay win.
Amy Qin (24.82), Kate Handley (29.71), Amber Smith (24.27), and Fu (24.11) got things started for Penn, winning the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:41.91, a little over two seconds faster than their winning time against Villanova last year, 1:43.98.
Anna Boeckman then kicked off a nine-event Quaker winning streak. The Penn senior stopped the clock in 10:10.27 in the 1000 freestyle, a five-second improvement from her time at the meet last year.
Penn senior Anna Moehn also registered a year-over-year improvement, winning the 200 free in a time of 1:51.97 and going over one-and-a-half seconds faster than her time against Villanova last year, 1:53.66.
Moehn was one of only two Penn swimmers to win multiple individual events. Her second victory came in the 500 freestyle, when she stopped the clock in 5:04.20.
Levensten, a junior at Penn, then threw down the first pool record of the meet, clocking 54.28 to take victory in the 100 backstroke. The time was just eighteen-one-hundredths from her lifetime best, a time of 54.10 set at last season’s Ivy League Championships.
Levensten bested the previous record by just one-hundredth of a second, a time of 54.29 set by Harvard’s Anya Mostek in 2024.
Penn junior Kate Handley won the 100 breast, clocking 1:04.62 and shedding over a second off of her time against the Wildcats last year.
The 200 butterfly was won by Penn sophomore Margaret Hu, who took the event in a time of 2:02.82. It was her first November swim of the 200 fly in her college career.
The standout swimmer of Penn’s season so far, Fu, had another impressive outing. She registered two individual victories, and downed her second pool record in a week.
Fu’s first win came in the 50 free, where she clocked an in-season best time of 23.09. Her pool record came in the next event, the 100 free, which she won resoundingly in a time of 49.80. Brown’s Jennifer Boyd held the previous record, 49.86. Fu was a little over a half-second off her best time in the 50, and over a second removed from her lifetime best in the 100.
The first Sheerr Pool Record of Fu’s season came the previous Saturday, when she clocked a time of 53.59 in the 100 fly against Delaware.
Freshman Connie Wang continued Penn’s dominance, clocking 2:01.13 in the 200 backstroke to take first. The final individual event winner for the Quakers was freshman Brianna Cong, who won the 100 fly in a time of 55.44.
The Villanova women only registered two individual event victories. It was Winnie Jalet who first interrupted the Quakers’ winning streak, producing 2:20.50 in the 200 breast to earn first. The senior was a full four seconds faster than she was against Penn in November last year.
Anna Farley was the only other Wildcat swimmer to earn a victory. The Villanova junior clocked 4:29.29 in the 400 IM to claim the win, and was right on par with her time in the event against Penn last year.
The Wildcats closed out the meet on a high. The team of Carlota Colomer Guasch (24.50), Riley Kudlac (23.44), Alyssa McHale (24.17), and Kayla Bolster (23.58) won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:35.69. They were nearly three seconds faster than the Wildcats’ ‘B’ relay, which placed second.
