LONG BEACH — An 18-year-old man already in custody in an unrelated matter was being held Wednesday on suspicion of murder for his alleged role in the 2004 killing of a Long Beach street vendor who police say was an innocent bystander felled in a gang shooting.

Rion Dashon Moore of Long Beach was re-booked Tuesday on suspicion of murder and was being held in lieu of $2 million bail, according to the Long Beach Police Department. He is the fourth suspect arrested in connection with the killing of Yener Hudiel Ramirez-Miranda, 37.

Three other suspects were taken into custody by homicide detectives last year.

Rahman Snook Abdallah, 20, of Long Beach, and Raylon Deshawn Akers, 24, of Los Angeles, are charged with one count each of murder in the killing, along with an allegation that each used a handgun. Akers is also facing one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

A third man, James Arthur Havlicheck Jr., 35, of Lakewood, is charged with one count of accessory after the fact.

Prosecutors said Abdallah and Akers fired multiple rounds in the direction where the victim was selling corn, and that the two fled to Havlicheck’s residence, where he allegedly aided them.

No details were immediately released on Moore’s suspected role in the killing.

The Long Beach Police Department said the shooting occurred around 4 p.m. March 20, 2024, in the 100 block of East Eagle Street, and described Ramirez-Miranda as “an innocent bystander and not involved in gang activity.”

Homicide detectives believe the suspects “fired shots at subjects they believed to be rival gang members,” police said in a statement.

Ramirez-Miranda died that day at a hospital of a gunshot wound to the head and neck, according to records from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

After the shooting, Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson called the victim “a beloved member of the Long Beach community.”

Anyone with information regarding the fatal shooting was urged to contact homicide detectives Jesus Espinoza and Alfredo Chairez at 562-570-7244. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacimestoppers.org
