AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A student is in custody after they allegedly had a gun on a school bus Thursday morning, according to a letter from Pflugerville High Principal Jon Bailey.
The letter said an anonymous report from a student started the investigation, informing campus administrators that another student allegedly had the firearm on a bus "and had shown it to others."

"Police responded and began an investigation as soon as the bus arrived at campus," the letter said.
Officers found and searched the student and "found a firearm in their possession." The student was then "taken into custody by PfISD Police before the start of the school day."
"The student involved will face serious disciplinary consequences in accordance with district policy and the law. Bringing a firearm onto school property is a severe violation of both school rules and state law, and Pflugerville ISD will take all appropriate actions to address this incident and ensure the safety of our campus community," the letter said.
The principal went on to say in the letter that the anonymous student who made the report took "courage and responsibility" in doing so.
"The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we take every report seriously. We will continue to follow all district policies and procedures to maintain a safe learning environment for everyone," the letter said.
