Slow Horses fans, you’re in for a treat.

This comes in the form of another moody, atmospheric Mick Herron novel adaptation to sink your teeth into on Apple TV.

Down Cemetery Road is a British thriller led by Ruth Wilson and Emma Thompson, set in the Oxford suburbs.

They assume the characters of Sarah Tucker and Zoë Boehm. The former becomes haunted by the disappearance of a young girl, enlisting the help of Boehm, a formidable private investigator.

A 60Forty Films production, Down Cemetery Road takes us through the mystery behind a neighbourhood explosion and a series of unfortunate events. A case that snowballs into a conspiracy that is much wider than anyone could’ve imagined.

Here’s everything you need to know about the cast and where to watch the action.

Who is in the cast of Down Cemetery Road?

Down Cemetery Road features a whole host of well-known names from the British scene.

Ruth Wilson as Sarah Tucker

Ruth Wilson plays Sarah, a middle-class art conservationist enjoying her role in an idealistic Oxford creative community.

Married to her husband Mark, she’s compelled to look for answers when an unsettling chain of events rips through their close-knit community.

Notorious for roles including Alice Morgan in Luther, Alison Bailey in The Affair, and Marisa Coulter in His Dark Materials – Wilson has more than demonstrated her range over the years.

Boasting a Golden Globe award in 2015 for best actress in The Affair, two Olivier Awards, and multiple Bafta nominations, fans of hers should expect another stellar performance.

Emma Thompson as Zoë Boehm

Thompson plays the sarcastic, acerbic counterpart to Wilson’s character. A talented PI, operating on the fringes of legality in the Oxford area, Boehm is someone who has, clearly, lived a life.

She’s in a less-than-ideal situation when we first meet her on screen, with her business failing and resources dwindling. Nevertheless, she’s compelled to investigate all the troubling details of Tucker’s story.

With a long and illustrious portfolio, Thompson is famous for her roles as Karen in Love Actually, Professor Sybill Trelawney in the Harry Potter franchise, and the wart-covered Nanny McPhee.

Boasting numerous Oscars, Baftas and Golden Globe wins, Thompson is a stalwart of television, cinema and theatre.

Adeel Akhtar as Hamza Malik

Malik works for government intelligence and threats, and has been hired to deal with a growing problem, although not totally comfortable with the full ramifications of these responsibilities.

Akhtar has been all over our screens of late, with prominent roles in Sweet Tooth, Fool Me Once, Killing Eve, and Black Doves. He also starred in Murdered by My Father, Ali & Ava, Showtrial, and Sherwood.

You might even remember his infamous role as Faisal in the 2010 dark comedy Four Lions.

Darren Boyd as C

Meet the shadowy head of the ministry of defense, ‘C’. The slick but soulless character pulls strings behind the scenes, putting pressure on others, namely Hamza.

Boyd has played a myriad of serious, but ultimately flawed characters over the years. Roles in The Outlaws, Killing Eve, and The Salisbury Poisonings make up just some of his exploits on screen.

Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as Downey

Stewart-Jarrett plays Downey, a neighborhood figure of mystery to begin with, whom we learn more about as the story unfolds.

Widely recognised for his role as Curtis in Misfits, he’s also taken on leading roles in Culprits and Generation.

Adam Godley as Joe Silverman

Joe Silverman is the unexpected spouse of Zoë. Also, a private investigator, he works alongside Emma Thompson’s character to uncover the truths behind this Oxford mystery.

Godley is known for his roles in Nanny McPhee, Love Actually and The Theory of Everything. He’s also made waves in shows like Breaking Bad, Suits, The Umbrella Academy and The Great.

The cast of Down Cemetery Road also includes:

Tom Goodman-Hill as Gerard (Baby Reindeer) Tom Riley as Mark (Da Vinci’s Demons) Sinéad Matthews as Denise / “Wigwam” (The Crown) Ken Nwosu as Rufus (Black Doves) Fehinti Balogun as Amos (I May Destroy You) Aiysha Hart as Paula (Atlantis)

Where is Down Cemetery Road filmed?

This is due to South West City’s resemblance to Oxford and the great facilities available for studio production.

St Nicholas Market and surrounding streets, including All Saints Lane, hosted filming for day and night sequences.

Other locations included the University of Bristol’s Arts & Social Sciences Library on Tyndall Avenue and Baltic Wharf.
