Ed Oliver out “indefinitely” with torn bicep ...Middle East

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Buffalo Bills secured a victory against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, but the win came with a setback. Bills star defensive tackle Ed Oliver suffered a bicep injury during the game.

Head coach Sean McDermott confirmed on Monday that Oliver tore his bicep and will require surgery. Oliver is out indefinitely.

The former first-round pick has recorded three sacks in three games this season. With Oliver’s absence, Buffalo now has only two healthy defensive tackles on their 53-man roster: Deone Walker and Larry Ogunjobi.

“This injury is a big loss, but gives an opportunity for someone to step up,” McDermott said.

McDermott added, “Tough loss. Ed is a really good player. He’s missed some time this year. That’s been unfortunate…We made it through a quarter and a half, somewhere thereabouts and he went down. So, we’ll miss having him. But it’s an opportunity for somebody to step up here.”

Jordan Phillips, Phidarian Mathis, and Zion Logue are available on the practice squad.

The Bills will face the Kansas City Chiefs next, and they will do so without their best defensive lineman. Despite the challenges ahead, Bills fans can savor the recent win a bit longer.
